How to Print or Mill Scan Bodies
Scan Body on Ti Base
Our scan bodies work on 27 different dental implant connections. These are compatible with most of the DESS Straight and ANGLEBase® Ti Bases.
These scan bodies will slide over most straight or ANGLEBase® ti bases.

Engaging Scan Body 50.600 or 53.200.stl |
Whichever ti base you use with this scan body is the same ti base you will select in either the 3shape®, exocad®, or Dental Wings® libraries.
PEEK scan bodies are autoclavable and reusable.
Library File Naming Conventions
The naming conventions within your library file may vary. For engaging you will select either 50.600 or 53.200 and for non-engaging you will select either 50.500 or 53.100.
For 3Shape® the library names will be:
50.600 or 53100_scanTibase_x.x (x.x is the version number so for example 2.0) – for the engaging scan body
50.500 or 53200_scanTibase_x.x (x.x is the version number so for example 2.0) – for the non engaging scan body
For exocad® the library names will be:
“Scan Abutment on Ti Base”
For Multiunit the library name is "DESS Multi TiBase - Scan Abutment on Ti Base"
In this example, a Nobel Active® ti base was used:
After choosing the library, select the specific platform and the ti base that is being used. In this example, a RP - 1.2mm straight ti base was selected with the option of selecting either engaging or non-engaging:

What Implant Systems and Situations will these Scan Bodies Work With?
If you wish to design custom titanium or custom chrome cobalt abutments using the DESS premill's then you will have to use either the desktop or intraoral scan body.
The following systems DO NOT have a "scan body on ti base" solution:
- On top of Astra Osseospeed® uniabutment (for 20° uniabutment use desktop scan body SKU 50.036 or intraoral scan body SKU 52.036) (for 45° uniabutment use desktop scan body SKU 50.037 or intraoral scan body SKU 52.037)
- On top of Astra EV® uniabutment (use desktop scan body SKU 50.058 or intraoral scan body SKU 52.058)
- On top of Straumann® SRA abutment (use desktop scan body SKU 50.098 or intraoral scan body SKU 52.098)
- On top of MIS® Multiunits from MIS® only (not DESS MUA’s for MIS Seven) use intraoral scan body SKU 52.085
